Coimbatore-based AI firm Yavar has developed a framework that addresses the data challenges often hampering AI effectiveness. By tackling the data bottleneck, Yavar AI enables enterprises to realize AI’s full potential more efficiently. They also have a platform that adapts best-in-class foundation models to unique business needs and specific data, building sustainable, successful AI programs for niche use cases. In an interview with CMR India, Stalin Thangaraj, Head of Engineering at Yavar Tech Works, shared his insights about Artificial Intelligence (AI) in day-to-day business.
Q1. Is AI really transforming the industry or just another buzzword in the market?
Ans. In recent days, wherever you go, everyone is talking about AI. There is a buzz, especially after the introduction of GPT. Among students, employees, and everywhere, AI is becoming prevalent. We now have AI-enabled phones, homes, and businesses. The buzz is due to the availability of vast amounts of data and increased computing power. The hardware computing power today is far greater than before. With this computing power and the data we have, AI is just beginning. It is like an opening. AI will go beyond our imagination.
Q2. What are the various facets of AI in the current scenario?
Ans. Whenever you hear about AI, terms like Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, and Generative AI come up. These are all under the umbrella of Artificial Intelligence. Machine Learning is the initial stage, where given a lot of data, it can identify patterns and make predictions to a certain level. However, processing large volumes of data in business necessitates Machine Learning. We teach the machine with data, and it identifies patterns and classifies them using mathematical formulas. Our language and mathematics are the foundation of Machine Learning, and consequently, Artificial Intelligence.
Q3. Please explain the importance of Deep Learning and how it works.
Ans. Deep Learning is an advanced level of AI. It uses the same mathematical formulas and data, but its processing method mimics the neurons of the human brain, predicting and classifying patterns with higher accuracy. The final stage is General AI, which is responsible for generating text, video, and audio, driving current AI advancements.
Q4. Beyond just words, does artificial intelligence really work in real-time? If so, how?Ans. AI is not just a concept; it is a piece of software that can be installed anywhere—on your phone, system, or even on a camera. For example, an AI-enabled CCTV camera. Intelligence is software, and it can be embedded in various applications to perform specific tasks. Virtual assistants in customer relationships, AI in hospitals, airports, and e-commerce are practical applications. AI will power the next generation, helping us achieve things we cannot yet imagine.
